Creating design items by exploiting new technologies is certainly one of the hottest topics of the current design scenario. That is also proved by Dirk Vander Kooij, whose studio, located in Zaandam, has recently designed the RvR Chair, a lightweight stacking design chair.

Light and characterized by simple, smooth, elegant curves, RvR Chair represents a unique design object as it is the first design chair that can be curve printed in just one single piece, thanks to a 3d printer which allows the creation of actual items through a multi-directional printing.

Born in 1983 and designing since the age of 13, Dirk Vander Kooij has recently focused his work on the relationship between design and the new 3d technology. Beyond that, his creations also point out another crucial factor of contemporary production: sustainability.

To that end, the RvR Chair is in fact completely made out of re-used plastic.
