It’s the coolest design event of autumn, a brand new happening that will take the idea of “design week” to another level: Dubai Design Week, scheduled from October 26 to 31 in the most famous emirate of the world, is ready to bring the very best local and international design furniture on the global stage. Concomitant with this year’s Downtown Design, the region’s most important fair of the field, the opening edition of Dubai Design Week will be an unmissable event with a strong international feel, as proved by one of its main initiatives, Destination. Established in cooperation with Downtown Design, it will serve as a commercial platform aimed at two purposes: making Dubai Design Week one of the most important design weeks of the world, and most of all introducing the emerging furniture talents from all over the globe.

Destination will be the showcase for the young brands featured by the six most captivating world’s design weeks: Beijing, Helsinki, Istanbul, Melbourne, Mexico City and San Francisco. Each participating city will take to Dubai a co-curated collection of their three best emerging brands, giving them the exclusive opportunity of presenting their design furniture items to both potential buyers and general public. Thanks to its across-the-board feel, with as many as four continents involved, Destination will be not only a design initiative but also an artistic and cultural experience where to understand and appreciate styles and creativity from such different countries. Moreover, as its name suggests, the happening will also emphasize the growing unstoppable transformation of the city of Dubai which is now ready to be the new hub of global design furniture, a place where to find both the most renowned brands and the most inventive small companies. The cooperation with other countries will be one of the key successful factors of the much-awaited Design Week of Dubai, which will be in fact the Guest City at Beijing Design Week 2015 in September.
