If you think that a container only hosts temporary stuff get ready to change your mind. In San Antonio, Texas, Poteet Architects studio designed a “Container Guest House”, a fully equipped guest room featuring even toilet and shower. The project’s upside is its innovative sustainability: every material is recycled, including the container itself. The sliding walls overlooking the garden are two former elevator doors, the interior is covered by using spray foam and bamboo plywood.

The water coming out of the taps is also employed to irrigate the garden on the roof which also helps reducing direct solar irradiance. Among the reused materials: utility poles as foundations, plow shovels as the entrance lamps, a metal net for climbing plants to cover up the container. The interior features an out-and-out design decoration which clashes in an unusual yet stylish way with the container environment. The project offers prefabricated eco-friendly containers that can be put wherever the client wishes, and even moved to another place if they need to!
