If you think urban apartments are too predictable get ready to change your mind. Here is a project that turns upside down the idea of city-house with a stunning unexpected location: a Renaissance lookout tower in the heart of Florence, renovated by architect Luigi Fragola to create a 65 square meter space with any comfort.

Because of the tower vertical structure, Tower Suite is divided into 3 levels – with a terrace on the upper one – sharing the same keyword: light. The space is characterized by a bold openness enhanced by a strong natural illumination and a stunning view over the city. The renovation obviously preserved the original elements of the tower, such as the living room beams, the attic joists and the entrance stairs local stone. These elements are also combined to modern ones like the white steel and wood staircase that leads to the bedroom area.

Tower Suite features a wide living space that includes kitchen, dining room and living room, separated by the stairway. Upstairs, the bedroom area is divided by the brick headboard into a bedroom and a bathroom space. The main colors are natural and light, with a dark warm wood flooring to be consistent with the original wooden beams.

The outdoor spaces also play a main role in the house: a further flight links the bedroom to the upper terrace where the space is completely open to offer both an amazing view and the perfect setting for an actual open-air living room, with a long sofa on one side and even the opportunity to build an exterior shower.

Tower Suite: when history means comfort.
