Big cities, yet small spaces: that’s where we live today. To bring character and functionality to a tiny apartment, you need to rely on an efficient, innovative and unique furniture design solution. Creative duo Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai made it happen by producing a design collection that combines together their common aesthetic and their individual cultures. PLAYplay collection targets a dynamic bold optimist buyer seeking for a design item that features functionality, color and also a little playfulness. Desk but also shelve, Bazaar merges wood and purple together; Pong & Ping turns the well known game into an actual dining table surrounded by benches; the Hamburger side tables feature two layers to be filled with whatever you like; Accordion is a console that brings both a burst of color and the actual natural feel of wood thanks to its lenticular visual effect.

PLAYplay is aimed at bringing a unique expressive touch into compact smart living spaces: the overall design features clean neat retro lines which get enhanced and livened up by bold hues like orange and purple. Such colors pay homage to South East Asia – the region Wai is from and where all these design items are crafted– and so does the employment of Indonesian Mahogany. Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai started working together in 2009 during a 3-month residency, as part of the Time to Design-New Talent award, at the Danish Art Workshops: to them, being designers means being researchers, engineers, craftsmen and story-tellers all at the same time. Their creations have been showcased on the major design platforms; their recent accomplishments include being awarded “Young Design Talent of the Year” by Elle Decor International Design Awards 2014.
