The curtains on Miami Design 2014, the global design forum hosted in the most famous coastal destination of the US, closed yesterday. Started on December 3rd, the tenth edition of the fair proved to be an intense 5-day-festival all about design and collecting, with a captivating series of happenings which livened up Florida's most fashionable city. This has been an important anniversary for the event, started in 2005 as a small fair featuring only 15 selected exhibitors, with the aim of creating a dialogue on design and collecting with the quality high standards of an art gallery. Over the years, Miami Design has been getting bigger without losing its philosophy: today it repesents an important worldwide showcase with the best of the field, as well as an eminent source of new trends and innovative ideas.

Mated with Art Basel fair, Miami Design is where modern design and collecting meet, with a succession of quality consistent programmes from year to year, which made the tenth edition of the event feature 11 of the first edition's 15 exhibitors. This year the fair reported a significant amount of american as well as international design oieces, with also a particular focus on the Italian design projects from the Fifties. New initiatives have been launched to celebrate the tenth anniversary, such as Design Curio, featuring 4 stands scattered along the fair offering any shade of design in order to entertain and stimulate collectors' curiosity through the exhibition of tech, handcrafted and even esoteric design items.
As always, the major event - supported by refined partners such as Audi, Swarovski and Fendi – proved to be an exclusive festival which turned Miami into the american destination for quality, unique, international design.
