The 2015 edition of Berlin’s DMY – the most important design festival of the country - closed its doors on Sunday. Started on June 11, the four-day-event brought to the city the very best of innovation, with a interesting packed program including events, installations, seminars, labs and talks on the hottest topics about design. The theme of the 13rd edition of the festival was “Back to the future”, which enriched the main exhibit path with new categories, contents and previews; hosted at Kraftwerk Mitte, the fair was open only to professionals on the first day, to be then enjoyable by general public. The exhibition was joined by more than 65 national and international brands, as well as renowned sponsors and partners such as Audi and HP.

Young designers were one of the main focus of the festival thanks to the fresh new contest dedicated to emerging talents: organized by DMY in collaboration with Ikea, it gave away 25 free exhibit spots to be used by the best 25 designers among the 168 German and international participants who registered by submitting prototypes, innovative projects and much more. The contest was the third new branch of the most important happening of the festival, the DMY Award, which took into consideration three categories: best exhibitor, best education and, for the first time, best new talent. Here are this year’s winner: Puzzles Living, Thomas More University College from Belgium, and Charlotte Anne Duckworth. Beside the main exhibition, featuring a different dj set on every night – DMY livened up the entire city of Berlin with on topic happenings and exhibitions hosted in stores, hotels and galleries. With international special guests such as Piero Lissoni and Atze Brauner, DMY confirmed to be a young comprehensive festival where to understand design and discover the future.
