The curtains on the 2017 edition of Beirut Design Week closed on Friday May 26th. From 2012, the festival livens up the entire city with events, culture, design, art and much more, attracting over 25,000 visitors from all over the world. Named the design capital of Middle East and North Africa, Beirut heavily bases its growth on its design week, which this year attracted professionals and entrepreneurs from any corner of the globe, including United States. For the last 6 years, Beirut Design Week has been embodying not just design but also architecture, fashion, tech, graphic design… proving how rich and contemporary is Beirut’s community, thanks to the ever-lasting revitalization of the whole city and economy.

The sixth edition of the festival featured a very diversified program that involved any district of the city through many workshops, talks, exhibits, tours and so on… creating new interesting social and professional opportunities. Over 50 sponsors and partners – firms, embassies, public and private institutions – have contributed to the success of Beirut Design Week over the years: the last edition featured over 50 international professionals who led innovative workshops and talks, whilst as many as 100 start-ups had the chance to finally be exposed on an international stage. The sixth edition of Beirut Design Week really represented a multi-cultural path, led by a very deep question: Is Design A Need? Thanks to the flawless organization of the festival, many challenging and profound answers have been found.
