This is a design for a micro kitchen/ 3 and a half standard bottom units/ inspired by my London life experience as a tenant. I looked at this Micro kitchen as part of the Downsizing movement. The reasons for which are mainly two – first and more obvious is cost of living spaces in mega policies and second - not so obvious but more common lately, is moving the focus away from materialism and using only what you really need.
No matter what the reason is, one thing is sure – this micro-kitchen design is expected not to be another thing to show off with but to be something clever and practical that makes its daily use more of a pleasure than of a house chore.
Living small means a lot of decisions has to be made. Observing your own habits and realizing what you can and can’t live without in terms of kitchen use. In my opinion things that just can't be compromised in size are - the sink, the fridge and the sitting space.
What I also always assumed important is designing the space so it looks clean and tidy. Making everything possible to get rid of the clutter by clever storage solutions and hiding the visually busy stuff. The lids on the top not only hides stuff but also make you clean every time you cook or dine.
My micro gives the chance to fully use the space above the kitchen for storage or other purposes. As the colour scheme is very simple there is always an option if you are short in kitchen storage to add some basic top row white cupboards that will fit into the design and add valuable space.
