Art within furniture: that was Daniele Basso’s idea when he founded Glocal Design, combining art and design to create simple yet strong objects, as proved by the latest installation, Mr Bot. The project was produced in collaboration with Slide with the aim of making the brand unforgettable by using something iconic. Mr Bot is not just a lamp but also the means to trasmit the designer’s vision of the world.

Inspired by robots from the Fifties, each lamp features different heights and colors to represent both the multiculturalism of the current era and the chance we have to turn the situation upside down. The various heights symbolize people’s choices in life, as everyon can change the world by making basic everyday decisions. Daniele Basso wants his audience to act without passively suffering reality.

In this way design goes beyond beauty by delivering a message to bring people to change the world.

Mr Bot installations are displayed at the Idea in Biella after travelling all around Europe within many individual and group exhibitions. The project was launched in 2011 first in Lugano, then in Milan on the occasion of the design week, thanks to Riflessioni Contemporanee exhibit, hosted at the Nhow Hotel. Later the work was featured in many events such as Biella in Contemporanea, a personal exhibition in Forte dei Marmi at Il Forte Antichità gallery, at the Hotel de Paris in Montecarlo and also displayed in the shopping windows of the well known La Rinascente store in Milan’s Piazza del Duomo.

The next stop-over is yet to be found out.
