Bellaria Design stresses the “100% made in Italy” factor. What distinguishes the Italian product?
The Italian design product has earned sort of a worldwide “pedigree” because of its architectural and beauty quality. This double value has been growing with time since the very beginning of Italian design, thanks to the cooperation between designers and artisans. This collaboration between two different kinds of creative professionals (those who use the mind and those who use the hands) resulted in the Italian design double quality.

How important is the handcrafted side in a design product?
It’s not easy to define the contemporary craftsmanship as nowadays an artisan can employ cutting-edge machineries such as 3d printers, getting a little far from the standard idea of an artisan. I would say that what makes a product different from the mass-produced ones is its uniqueness and exclusivity, which recurs when looking at handcrafted products as they are never produced in big ranges like the industrial ones.

On the other hand, how important is technology?
To me it is the starting point of design, not the finish line: new materials and production processes should represent the “dna” of a project, not an “extra cover”.

What made you get close to design?
Its inventive side, the chance to actually invent something like new products to define new needs, giving my contribution to progress. I was lucky enough to develop and share this approach with a design master like Denis Santachiara, who also loves motorbikes and good food just like me.

Which of your projects best depicts your philosophy?
I think Tree of light is sort of a manifesto of my project philosophy, as it merges technology into a ”warm” iconic symbolic appearance. I would define it a mix between liberal and scientific arts.

Which are your favorite materials?
I’m very fascinated with tech materials: I was born in the Seventies so my heart belongs to science fiction, Goldrake and Star Wars.
