The twelfth edition of Design Miami/Basel brings together the best galleries from eleven countries around the world with projects that showcase the aesthetic variety of the twentieth and twenty-first century with exhibits that successfully capture a broad perspective of design.
The main objective is to be able to expand the awareness of modern and contemporary design, fuel the market and provide a starting point accessible to collectors and enthusiasts.
Many are the well-known names of designers who will be present with their works: from Friedman Benda who celebrates the centenary of Ettore Sottsass with works that revive the iconographic career of the designer; to Salon 94 Design, that introduces Max Lamb’s latest body of work that makes use of leftover scraps polystyrene presented in conversation with gold jewelry Lucas Samara; we can’t forget Etage Projects, which will be present for the first time at the fair with the works of the danish artist FOS (Thomas Poulsen).

Many will be the galleries that through this event, among the most global ones, will be able to unveil the new projects and above all to make known the works of new contemporary designers, who, during this fair, will make their debut on the international scene.
Not only design, but also political themes will be handled through the works exhibited. The Heritage Gallery will remember the centenary of the October Revolution through a representation of Soviet propaganda design from the 1920s to the 1970s and of course we can not forget to mention the exhibition dedicated to the works and projects of the BBPR, a group of Italian architects established in 1932 and who have lived in person the conflict of World War II.
This year is also a highlight of the works created in glass, ceramics, stoneware, metals and porcelain, where you can admire ethereal forms of the imaginative glass by artist Laura de Santillana and the circular glass sculptures of Tora Urup playing with the perception of volume and space. Artist Maren Kloppmann has also created a unique wall installation commissioned specifically for the fair, evoking imagery of deep blue porcelain pillows.
From the 13th to the 18th June you can’t miss this cosmopolitan and eclectic fair to be fascinated by what every gallery is ready to show, thanks to the creations and to the interesting collaborations created with artists, designers, architects, fashion designers and producers of jewelry.
