Today’s project is an example of both the most eclectic contemporary design and also the philosophy of the London brand that sells it, founded in 2002 by the graduate Cristopher Duffy and named after him. Duffy London’s design are ideas-based, combining art and function and playing with the concepts of gravity, geometry and illusion. The brand features a unique recognizable style created by Christopher’s mind as well as the talent of the designers team he works with, and the artisans and manufacturers who turned a project into an actual design item. Boasting strong eco-credentials, everything by Duffy London is handmade to order by skilled craftspeople in the UK, using sustainable wood and other eco-friendly materials and mediums. The Monolith Chair combines many of these features together, such as geometry and gravity.

The product consists of an almost transparent monolith – thanks to the employment of perspex - that seems to balance on two other toppling monoliths, creating a chair that is difficult to visualise. Thanks to its transparency, the chair is characterized by a strong geometrical effect because of the bold monochromatic hue of its polished steel framework. Available in different colors and finishes, using ethically sourced materials, Monolith Chair is 75 cm high and 55 cm wide and deep, and is handmade by local artisans and craftspeople, allowing customers to arrange custom finishes to better meet their needs. The chair gets delivered within 12 weeks, and suits a living room, a studio or even an eclectic office with its unique bold design. Located in East London, the place to be for creativity, Duffy combines playfulness and ornate study, for inimitable results.
