If you are looking for a unique essential lamp this might suits your needs: Leeslamp is a design object prototype aimed at creating an unusual feel within a domestic interior, thanks to its original distinct shape. Leeslamp is in fact completely made by hand by its Dutch designer, Frederike Top, 33 yo, whose product design studio focuses primarily on lighting.

According to the designer, it is important to emphasize the actual light bulbs as the core of any lamp: they are available in many colors and types, therefore they need to be displayed. In order to do so, she created a piece that is all about its cable, whose shape not only suggests the name of the lamp but also reproduces Top’s own handwriting, like it was made out of ink.

The lamp enhances the ‘handmade concept’: it is made of synthetic clay – which covers the metal cable – and presents a variable thickness just like the actual handwriting. It takes 2 to 3 days to complete the lamp, which suits a clean neat interior where it can stand out against a light-colored wall.

Dedicated to readers and essential-design-lovers, Leeslamp suits both a living room and a bedroom. Frederike Torp, whose work is inspired to Olafur Eliasson and Tom Dixon, plans this lamp to be the first of a wide range featuring different cables and colors.

An essential idea to emphasize the actual source of light as well as the importance of handmade, with the original touch only a real designer can add.
