From July 9-11, Tokyo hosted the 5th Design Tokyo, the exhibit fair belonging to the rich schedule of the annual events in town promoting design, creativity and emerging ideas.
Design Tokyo is one of Japan’s most renowned fair of the field, displaying a various range of design objects selected by a panel of experts. An occasion to learn what’s new in terms of trends and fashion by getting in touch with the most creative part of the country.

Being selected is not easy as applicants are selected by a panel of professionals who have to choose among thousands of designers. Here are the names of the members of the panel: Kazuo Kawasaki, the Japanese designer whose work is permanently exhibited at MOMA; Yukio Fujimaki, design, fashion and show business expert; the interior stylist Tomomi Nagayama and Luke T. Baker, the only foreign member, part of New York’s MOMA staff.
Design Tokyo includes everything about interior design, such as kitchens, living spaces and bathroom furniture, but also accessories, fashion, beauty and even a kid corner.
In this way it is more than a mere fair, as it gathers both professionals and curious people, to make eastern and western cultures meet in the perfect setting of the traditional yet ultra-modern city of Tokyo.
