Design Tokyo: the ninth edition is coming soon

4-6 July, these are the dates to mark in the agenda to discover all the news that the ninth edition of Design Tokyo has in store for us: the exhibit fair belonging to the rich schedule of the annual events in town promoting design, creativity and emerging ideas.
A real show that every year attracts an increasing number of visitors and specialized figures of the sector who seek sophisticated, functional yet marketable design products selected from around the world.
An occasion to learn what’s new in terms of trends and fashion by getting in touch with the most creative part of the country.
For this reason, to respect the concept of the show and to maintain the high quality of the exhibitions, Design Tokyo has established a Screening Committee, organised by specialists working in the design and interiors industry, and who will have the difficult task of choosing, among thousands of aspirants, who will be able to exhibit during the fair.

Here are the names of the members of the panel:
- Paul Galloway: Collection Specialist for the Architecture and Design department at the Museum of Modern Art, where he coordinates the growth and management of the collection and oversees research. A regular speaker at museums, conferences, and universities, Paul has made the celebration of design creativity a personal mission. He is also a professor of at the City University of New York;

- Yasumichi Morita: since starting with a project in Hong Kong in 2001, he has successfully broadened his appeal to New York, London, Paris, Doha and other major cities. He has also been expanding his career as a designer displaying his talents across a wide variety of graphics and products. He has branched out as an artist and his solo photo exhibition has been annually held in Paris since 2015, which received high praise;

- Fumio Takashima: he established BALS CORP. (now known as Francfranc Corp.) in 1990 for sales of imported furniture and interior. He has over 150 shops including J-PERIOD, WTW and Francfranc. His business approach and marketing has been attracting strong attention from the industry;

- Kazuo Kawasaki: Design Director, who has been designing wide range of products. He has been awarded from numbers of Japanese and overseas prizes. Numbers of his products have been exhibited as permanent collections at major overseas museums such as “MoMA”;

- Tomomi Nagayama: Interior Stylist who has been actively involved in interior & product styling for magazines such as “Casa BRUTUS” and “ELLE DECO”. Also, she has been handling interior styling for corporate showrooms and catalogues. She has been interested in products and things which go well with our daily life, and has been studying about them.

Design Tokyo is more than a simple exhibition, but a real encounter between Western culture and oriental creativity in a perfect setting of the traditional yet ultra-modern city of Tokyo.
