A unique place for a unique project. Dar Hi is a refined design hotel resulting from the collaboration between French entrepreneurs Philippe Chapelet and Patrick Elouarghi together with designer Matali Crasset. The hotel is located a few kilometers outside Nefta, a picturesque town in southern Tunisia framed by palm groves, dunes, oases and, of course, the desert. Within such an enchanting environment, Crasset – who started working in the Nineties by being Denis Santachiara’s and Philippe Starck’s apprentice - designed 17 rooms located in a great facility divided into three distinct areas. Each of them is based on its own orientation and view: the pill houses, the troglodytes and the dunes.

The pill houses stunningly overlook Nefta’s palm grove. Located on a upper level, they are independent from one another yet share a common space on the base (similar to a village square) as well as an essential decoration.
The troglodytes, made out of local bricks, feature private terraces facing the salt lake as well as the desert around the facility. Addressing families or groups of people, they are linked by a circular belt.
The dunes lie on the ground sandy level and feature an architecture aimed at making them almost disappear within the desert, just like a wind-sculpted creation. Inside, they feature a rich interior with refined loggias, private gardens, terraces and wide windows overlooking Nefta.
Materials, pieces of furniture, walls, flooring and any item are completely local. Pillows, lamps, fireplaces, colorful fabrics and canvas warm and liven up the atmosphere of the whole Dar Hi, from the restaurant to the café, from the spa to the pool and the solarium, with no exceptions. Everything merges into a project based on local tradition and modern decoration, as well as on the amazing beauty of Mother Nature.
