Three brothers for a six-handed project: this is the story of Carapace, the Italian design brand resulting from the collaboration amid Fabio, Alessandro and Paolo, who share not just the same blood but also the same passion for wood, as their father was a woodworker. The trio produces unique sustainable design items that emphasize the beauty of wood, the main material, usually matched with iron. Simple and essential in lines, Carapace design pieces reinterpret the artisan tradition with a bold style that is the result of a caring production process. The items by Carapace come to life from naturally cut down trees, pruning waste or even trunks found on the street, which get processed by hand – sometimes for more than one year – to become uniquely treated design pieces.

Our showroom at Via Monte Pordoi 8 hosts many items by Carapace, including Algeri table and Helga chair. Algeri is a coffee table made out of recycled wood and iron, which really stresses the artisan skill of the brand: the poplar top is processed through the ancient Japanese treatment called Shou Sugl Ban, with which wood gets charred, washed and brushed to become more resistant. Available in standard or custom sizes, this design coffee table is made by hand on demand, so each piece is numbered and signed. Each Helga piece is numbered as well: light and simple, this poplar chair features another interesting treatment, the hand-drawn Isoipse finishing on the top that actually turns this design item into an art work. Refined, sustainable and unique, Carapace design furniture bring a genuine natural touch to any space.
