How can the beauty and uniqueness of stone get combined with the captivating versatility and functionality of design? The answer lies in today's project, by Eindhoven-based OS ∆ OOS studio.

Founded in 2011 by Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, the studio aims at finding the balance between form, material and their relation to the surroundings and the user: this challenge has resulted in many design items that border the line of design (in the industrial-functionality sense) and autonomous objects, best described as contemporary objects derived from concept, yet rationalized to give them purpose.

Arc collection is perhaps one of the best examples of the studio's philosophy because of the material it is made of, HI-MACS®. Since naturally formed stone is not malleable, OS ∆ OOS opted to manufacture Arc with acrylic stone, a material made out of natural mineral, acrylic resin and color pigments which adds to stone's properties the chance to be bent and processed.

HI-MACS® qualities got greatly exploited by the studio's designers as they based the Arc collection on the actual form of the arch, creating two different types of seats - a stool and a bench - featuring an essential captivating feminine line whose core is the curve of their main element, which can be combined to interchangeable parts to lead to different designs.

Presented on the occasion of the latest Milan's Salone del Mobile fair and characterized by its dark intense color, Arc collection represents the meeting point amid matter and contemporary design, between Mother Nature and human skills.
