The story of the road sign as a piece of art work is one that has already been told a few years back in London, Paris, Rome, Florence and Milan when Clet Abraham, an artist from Brittany, starts spreading his work by painting on road signs and thus starting a new movement. A couple years later, design also invents a new way to use these everyday obects and the home collection by Alessandro Ugo is thus formed. A series of tables, that peeks out from Fuorisalone 2013 and from the Temporary Museum for New Design, that chooses to use everyday objects and to reproduce them with a creative tone and transform them in pieces for home decorations with a creative inspiration and with a careful attention to the environment and recycling.

SignTable, this is the name of the series, which gives 100% refuse objects a second chance and places an ordinary object, like the roadsign, in a completely new and different context from what it was originally designed for, changing its meaning and its use and making it into home decor. The artist presents two different series of tables, Vintage and Brand New, with the difference between the two being the level of previous usage of the materials. Vintage, as the word says, uses roadsigns that have been used and therefore show signs of wear and tear from the weather and the environment, whilst Brand New uses only new roadsigns. Tables designed for a modern house that appreciates the ironic side of decor and is looking to play with shapes, colours and meaning.
