Tyche: a name, a project, a piso - that is the Spanish word for “apartment”. Located in Barcelona, inside an art nouveau building in the Eixample district, the Tyche apartment is a joint project by Andrea Serboli and Matteo Colombo from CaSA - Colombo and Serboli Architecture studio (www.colomboserboli.com) together with Margherita Serboli (www.margheritaserboli.com). The three architects entirely renovated the space with the aim of turning a regular 97 square meter piso into a functional holiday apartment enhanced by a contemporary decoration.

The core of the interior project was the owner’s need for three double bedrooms framed in a pleasant environment enhancing the building’s XX century details as well as featuring a fresh decoration based on contemporary furniture. The architect team re-organized the space division on three axes: the living room area adjacent to the kitchen; the area enclosing the smallest bedrooms; the big master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The refurbishment brought back to life the original Catalan vaults, the windows’ wood Art Nouveau jambs and the hexagonal tile flooring. Andrea Serboli, Matteo Colombo and Margherita Serboli turned these elements into the core of the interior project, which led to the actual creation of three bedrooms as well as wider brighter spaces: the perfect environment for a design decoration to be mixed to the original XX century details.
Today the Tyche apartment is a unique property that merges together modern design products, refined and basic pieces (even from Ikea), antiques and recovered items. The main hues are milk white and subtle colors, enhancing the essential lines and Spanish details of the project. A delicate yet bold piso where opposites pleasantly meet.
