After nine vibrant days the curtain closed on the 18th edition of Sidney Design, the ultimate creativity showcase that brought to Australia’s most famous city the very best of interior design and innovation. From August 16-24 Sidney was livened up by exhibitions, talks and workshops: produced by the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences and hosted at the Powerhouse Museum, the event featured many happenings across the city thanks to the collaboration of more than 50 institutions.

A unique chance that made emerging designers – as well as the field leaders – break new ground in interior design industries across the continent. A purpose supported by the Australian government itself, in order to develop the local creative economy.

The Sidney Design focused on the steps that link the creation of a design object to its final use, in order to dissolve the borders between designer, producer and consumer by exploring new technological ways of design-making.

Above the main events: Inteface: people, machines, design, exploring the impact of International designers on information technology; FabLab, a working space focused on the latest examples of digital fabrication and design practice; Sidney Mini Maker Faire, demonstrating the various ways to harnessing new technologies for innovative design practice.

Last but not least, Workshopped14, where a selected group of Australian designers looked at the challenges of product design from prototype to production.

A nine-day-event on cutting-edge technology in one of the most modern cities ever.
