The second edition of Tianjin Design Week closed its doors last Wednesday, after turning the Chinese municipality into the stage for international design, especially Italian. The so called Made in Italy played a leading role within the event, with a dedicated pavilion and several daily happenings, talks and exhibition that served as a bridge between China and Italy, such as The making of (a new) Rome - recent works by roman architects. This proved once again the ever growing relationships between the two countries in terms of design.

The six day event was hosted at the Beining Park, for a overall surface of as much as 8000 square meters: the aim, just like last year, was to highlight the international side of the historical city of Tianjin, which today projects itself into the future. Young people always represent one of the core focuses of the design week: university students were once again under the spotlight thanks to “Streetfood”, the cino-italian workshop promoted jointly by the University of Tianjin and Naples’ University Federico II. The theme of this 2015 edition was “Memories and dreams”, an homage to the almost dreamlike creativity of architects, who are able to turn their thoughts into reality; the topic also challenged the selection of young talents who participated into the contest of the event, won by “Market + Cinema”, a project by three Chinese designers. The combination between food and design also represented an important focus, with the exhibition of many contemporary design items related to kitchen and eating in general.
Thanks to its young, multimedia and captivating feel, the Tianjin Design Week proved to be the leading event of the Chinese municipality as well as an unmissable international appointment.
