DMY 2016: design speaks german fluently

June 2 marks the comeback of the most important international design festival of Germany, the DMY, which will turn Berlin into the stage for innovation and modernity. The fourteenth edition of the event will embrace the theme "Odyssey 2016", aimed at investigating the most futuristic, cutting-edge side of design, with a unique selection of design pieces, prototypes, innovative materials and projects from each branch of design. This year, for the first time, the festival will be in fact open to any design discipline, addressing both well-known and emerging names and brands, who will respond to the challenging theme of DMY 2016 by showcasing their creations at the Fair, now hosted at the Kraftwerk Berlin.

Once again the festival, on from June 2 to 5, will feature a strong international side that will get every sort of designers involved , including students, to stress not just the importance of a final design item but also its development process. The program of the new edition of DMY will also include many happenings such as talks, workshops and on-topic events, like the much-awaited competition, in collaboration with Ikea, that will reward 25 international designers with as many free of charge spots at the exhibition. This year 168 designers submitted their projects to the board of judges, and it's almost time to find out the talented winners. International but also local quality at DMY 2016, thanks to Berlin Design Expo, which will showcase Berlin’s latest outcomes of creative work to enhance the capital's potential as a platform for creativity, especially on the occasion of its tenth anniversary as a UNESCO city of design. With many design spots scattered throughout Berlin, DMY is ready to become the European core of design.
