A high-end apartment in the heart of Milan gets a new fresher face thanks to today's featured project by Gruppo Censeo. Designed by architects Alberto Soana and Silvia Cirabolini, this renovation involved a early XX century 250 square meter space overlooking Milan's Parco Sempione. Due to the value of the apartment, the project opted for the enhancement and preservation of its original beauty, with no massive structural changes. High ceilings and much natural illumination, as well as the large size of the rooms, created a perfect starting point. The space featured several refined materials, as well as unique elements such as a Candoglia marble fireplace and the oval skylight in iron and patterned glass at the entrance.

To preserve the original flooring, the main electricity and gas system ducts were placed in the upper end of the perimeter walls of this room; moreover, different conservation interventions took place to bring original elements back to life, such as the refined bordered herringbone parquet floor. On the one hand, the project renovated such original elements; on the other, it emphasized the beauty and potential of the space through an accurate chromatic study. The classic style of the apartment is now accentuated by a well-balanced palette that features white, mahogany and walnut. The only room to get a complete makeover was the master bathroom, with the introduction of lacquered wood paneling around the vintage-designed bathroom fixture, whilst several portions of the wall are now overlaid by XL gres plates with marble-like hues and veining. The final result is a wide, classic yet custom apartment: to allow the creation of a studio space within the angular living room, the private client opted for a massive two-faced custom designed bookcase, which reaches the center of the room yet preserve the balance of the space by being as tall as the adjacent doors.
