Born in Buenos Aires, based in Brisbane: Alexander Lotersztain, Derlot studio’s creative director, is famous for his multicultural projects. Chester Street Apartment, from 2012, is one example of his capability to combine the client’s needs and the environment by bringing the fortunate climate of the city inside the house. The dining room is illuminated by sunrays which pass through the entire space. The project involved both esthetic and comfort, resulting in a complete apartment featuring kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and laundry.

Colors are the main element of the interior which alternates monochromatic and multicolored spaces. The white floor beside a black wall is livened up by a yellow sofa and a south American rug reminding of the designer’s birthplace. Everything involves local producer’s materials to guarantee a sustainable yet classy result. Beside clashing colors there’s also a wood boiserie panelling creating a warm atmosphere in the kitchen, and also a sliding element that uncovers a hidden bathroom. A place mixing interior and exterior as well as beauty and practicality. A great project that deservedly made it to the Australian Interior Design Awards 2012 final.
